MSU celebrates National Bike Month with campus events
Published: May 4, 2015
May is National Bike Month and MSU is celebrating with numerous campus events. National Bike Month was established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists to inform people of the overall benefits of bicycling. Considering Michigan State's 5,200-acre campus, biking is one of the most efficient, reliable and environmentally-friendly ways to travel around MSU.
Campus Bike Month events encourage faculty, staff and students to leave their cars at home and bring their bikes out of hibernation. Not only is bicycling great for the environment, it gets you outside and is an effective way to lose weight and improve your overall health. While this sustainable mode of transportation is encouraged year round, MSU hopes that "Bike to Work Week" events, May 11 to 15, will educate the campus population about how easy it is to bike to work.
